What services does Green Horizon provide?

Green Horizon provides turf fertilization, weed control, core aeration, overseeding, soil testing, and lime applications. We also offer a variety of tree and shrub fertilization and disease prevention services.

What makes your lawn program different from “cheap spray” companies?

Results come from properResults come from proper product selection + correct rates of application + correct timing—and that’s the core difference between “treating lawns” and building healthy turf.

How soon will I see results from fertilization or weed control?

Most homeowners see changes in six months, depending on temperature, rainfall, turf health, and the specific treatment. Long-term improvement (thicker turf, fewer weeds) happens over 2-3 seasons with consistent, correctly timed service.

Is your lawn care approach environmentally responsible?

Green Horizon positions itself as environmentally responsible by focusing on proper timing and application to reduce unnecessary impact while maximizing effectiveness

Is it safe for kids and pets after a treatment?

Generally, our guidance is to: keep kids and pets off treated areas until the application is dry, usually 2 hours. If you have special concerns (pets that graze, sensitive skin, etc.), ask before service so guidance can be tailored.

Do I need water after a lawn treatment?

It depends on the treatment:

  • Some products should be watered in to move them into the soil (common with certain granular applications, we provide specific guidance with each treatment.
  • Some should remain on leaf surfaces for a period to work effectively (common with certain post-emergent weed treatments).
When is the best time to aerate and overseed in Northern Virginia?

Late summer through fall is typically best for cool-season lawns because the turf can recover quickly and seedlings establish before winter.

Can I overseed if I used crabgrass preventer?

Usually, the answer is NO. most standard pre-emergents can interfere with grass seed germination. If you want both, you need a plan that accounts for product selection and timing.

Why should I do a soil test?

Soil testing removes guesswork—especially for pH and lime needs—and helps you avoid wasting money on the wrong inputs. Green Horizon recommends every 2-3 years.

How do I know if my lawn needs lime?

Don’t guess. Lime should be applied based on a soil test recommendation. Applying too much can create nutrient imbalances. If more than 50 lbs per 1,000 sq ft is needed, it should be split into multiple applications.
